The Team Behind Company in Belgium
Three specialists in one Brussels office. Each page and file has a person who prepares it and a different person who reviews it.
Who prepares and reviews our pages
Lotte Vermeulen, Company formation and company law lead
Eleven years on Belgian company files. Lotte assembles the incorporation file the notary works from, follows the filing through the court registry, the Moniteur belge and the KBO/BCE, and handles branch and subsidiary registrations for foreign parents. She also prepares corporate changes, takes companies through dissolution and handles the transfer file of a ready-made company.
- Background: Vrije Universiteit Brussel, law faculty, then seven years on the company-secretarial desk of a Brussels corporate-services firm.
- Languages: Dutch (native), English, French, German.
- Topics: company formation, ready-made companies, SRL, NV/SA and partnerships, articles of association, dissolution.
Julien Marchal, Tax, VAT and licensing lead
Ten years, all on Belgian files. Julien prepares VAT identification and VAT-representative files, coordinates payroll with an accredited social secretariat and maps the filing calendar of a new company. He also prepares application files for an FSMA registration or an NBB licence and files Benelux trade marks at BOIP. He explains the tax rules our sources set out; the tax position itself goes to an ITAA-registered adviser.
- Background: UCLouvain, economics, then five years in the indirect-tax compliance team of a Brussels advisory firm.
- Languages: French (native), English, Dutch.
- Topics: VAT registration, VAT representation, payroll coordination, social security contributions, capital gains tax, CASP and EMI licensing, trade marks.
Nadia El Amrani, Founder services lead
Nine years of founder files. Nadia sets up the registered office and the domiciliation contract and assembles the file a Belgian bank asks for before it opens a business account. She coordinates a resident director and the substance a foreign-owned company needs, and prepares professional-card files for non-EU founders with the Regional administration. Bank and Region decisions stay with the bank and the Region.
- Background: Université libre de Bruxelles, law faculty, then years with a Brussels business-centre and domiciliation provider and a founder-relocation practice.
- Languages: French (native), English, Dutch, Arabic.
- Topics: business address, domiciliation, local director, corporate bank account, professional card, foreign founders.
How a page gets its name on it
A guide or service page is prepared by one member of the team and reviewed by a different one. Where a page shows authorship, you see both names and the date it was last updated. A separate human sign-off takes place before any page is published.
